Just make this annoying thing go away.
Just saw that Patrick is talking up the new RiP: A Remix Manifesto movie, which was made by boingboing favourite and local peep Brett Gaylor.
I missed the premiere at SXSW but saw the film last night here in Montreal, and it’s totally awesome. It’s probably the best laid out argument for reasonable copyright law that’s ever been made, just as good as watching Lawrence Lessig do his thing live.
By my count, Brett has been working on this movie for 3 years. I strongly suggest you see it and help spread it. Click on the boingboing link above to watch a preview. The visuals are crazy and the story is strong. You’ll like it.

still making my way through it when i have time, but i saw the first two parts and found it highly intriguing. linked to the first part on facebook about a week ago. will definitely make time to see the rest and it sounds like it would be a nice accompaniment to the copyright criminals documentary, which just needs to hurry up and come out already.

I’m real old school on this one. Despite the good feeling beats and the rush to celebrate innovation and technology by mixing old stuff to create new stuff….come on, let’s be real here. This is theft mascaraing as innovation.
If you want to use MY stuff to create YOUR stuff, you should have to ask me first. Not doing means you are stealing from me and it also defies common courtesy.

Straight up! I was fortunate to see RiP at the Victoria Film Festival last month… required viewing, absolutely.
