She realized that from the start and worked her way up on her own. The Barenaked ladies are doing the same thing. They've reached the end of a major-label contract and have decided they don't need them either. It's a new world and the traditional recording industry is a dinosaur. There are thousands of lower-tier independant musicians who are self-publishing themselves and maybe not getting rich, but aren't going into debt to a record company either. P. S.
